You may have qualifications that meet some or all of the requirements for Fitness Alberta Group Exercise or Personal Fitness Trainer certification. Below are some of the ways you can challenge courses or exams to speed up your Fitness Alberta certification process.

Below are some of the ways you can apply your existing credentials, or challenge courses and exams to speed up your Fitness Alberta certification process.
Recognition of Fitness Leadership Canada accreditation
Fitness Leadership Canada accreditations meet national standards, and are recognized by Fitness Alberta. Current FLC exercise professionals can transfer into Fitness Alberta with no courses or exams required. This transfer is available to currently FLC certified Group Exercise, Fitness for the Older Adult, Aquatic Exercise, and Resistance Training leaders.
Recognition of personal training credentials
Fitness Alberta may recognize your personal training accreditation with another organization. If your certification meets our standards and is current you can transfer into Fitness Alberta with no exams or courses required.
Personal training exam challenge
To take the Fitness Alberta Personal Fitness Trainer Theory exam, you must have completed prerequisite coursework at an accredited college or university in the following competencies:
- Human Anatomy
- Human Physiology
- Exercise Physiology
- Movement Mechanics
- Physical assessment and
- Health related benefits of physical activity
- Exercise prescription and program design
- Human behaviour

- Expired AFLCA/Fitness Alberta, or FLC certification
- Other current or expired certifications
