Online Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise course


This asynchronous, online course covers basic fitness principles such as anatomy, physiology, movement mechanics, training and conditioning, risk management and leadership. Understanding the concepts and knowledge contained in this course is required for all group exercise certifications. 

The course is designed to allow students to work through the information on their own. Students have access the course for up to 4-weeks, and can work at their own pace within that time-frame. Non-graded, check in assignments and quizzes, and key terms are provided throughout the course to support your understanding of the course material.

What to expect in this course

Foundations in Physical Activity lays the foundation for the rest of your certification journey. Most students require independent study, post-course to prepare for their Foundations theory exam. To help you prepare:
