Group exercise certification

Our certifications are evidence-informed, nationally recognized, and internationally portable. Join our community of more than 2,000 Fitness Alberta® certified professionals. 

All certifications require the Foundations in physical activity and exercise (formerly exercise theory) as a prerequisite. Once you've completed your Foundations course you can choose from the following specialties: 

  1. Aquatic exercise 
  2. Fitness for the older adult
  3. Resistance exercise and,
  4. Group Exercise plus one (or more) of the following designations:
  • Cycle
  • Step
  • Choreography
  • Mind-Body
  • Portable Equipment

This course is the prerequisite to all group exercise certification courses. Learn the foundations of anatomy, and exercise physiology.  Take group exercise fundamentals plus one or more of five designations that suit your needs and interests.
