The role of educators
FAB Educators play an important role in the certification journey of new candidates. They offer Fitness Alberta certification courses to candidates, and offer professional development at Fitness Alberta conferences and workshops.

Qualifications include:
To qualify to become a Fitness Alberta Educator you will need:
- current Fitness Alberta certification with approximately 2 years of experience facilitating fitness classes in your specialty

demonstrated adult education and professional fitness leadership experience in your area of expertise

demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuing education

to teach Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise, you will need a post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, e.g. personal training, kinesiology, exercise physiology
The Educator course includes applied learning in:
- Adult education principles
- Motivation
- Leadership
Fitness Alberta Educator Scope of Practice

Facilitate Fitness Alberta courses in areas that the Fitness Alberta Educator is certified in.

Conduct practical exams and assessments for Fitness Alberta leaders in areas the Fitness Alberta educator is certified in.

Be a positive representative of Fitness Alberta

Follow Fitness Leadership Canada Performance Standards, Fitness Alberta Performance standards, and the Fitness Alberta Code of Conduct.
