How long does it take to finish the course?
The time it takes to complete the certification program depends on each student. Some students complete the course and certification requirements within 3-4 months, and some take up to the full 12 months. You can study at your own pace, full or part-time, depending on your work and life commitments. We estimate the total study time at 80-120 hours.
Once you have completed the course, you are eligible to write the CPFT theory and practical exams for certification.

This is a post-secondary level course, that covers:

- Human physiology (cardio-respiratory, muscle and metabolic)
- Pre-exercise screening and resting health assessments
- Resistance training principles and exercise techniques
- Cardiovascular training concepts and exercise techniques
- Flexibility training concepts and exercise techniques (dynamic, static, PNF, SMR)
- Planning fitness training programs
- Communication, consultation and motivation techniques

We highly recommend you take the skills development virtual workshop once you have completed the course. This will help you to retain and apply the knowledge you've just learned. We also find that people who take the skills development option do better on their exams.
