Group choreography
The Group Choreography certification course teaches group exercise leaders how to harness the infectious magic of combining music and movement in their classes. No dance experience required! Group Choreography Course topics include:
- the elements and components of a step or dance-based class
- how to use music effectively
- how to apply step, choreography and movement combinations
- safe progression
- proper cueing
This 16-hour course is offered in person and virtually.
To register for this course we recommend that you are currently registered in, or have completed the Fitness Alberta Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise course. (You do not have to have written your Foundations exam).

Group Choreography Virtual Specialty Course November 23 - 30 ,2024
Learn how to plan and deliver effective group choreography classes. This course covers topics specific to planning and developing floor-based choreography classes. Topics include: class structure and content; class planning, class components, use of music, leadership, choreography/movement combinations, instruction and cueing. This is great course to learn the fundaments of exercise to music in group based classes in both Step and choreography based classes NOTE: We recommend that you are enrolled in, or have completed, the Foundations in Physical Activity and Exercise course, before taking a specialty course.
