Fitness for the older adult
Learn how to support older adults at any fitness level to live life independently and fully. Get started on your journey to support this growing demographic to enjoy their lives fully.
This popular certification is based on current research and leading practice in older adult fitness. Delivered by qualified Fitness Alberta trainers, it provides an overview of the changes that occur in the body as it ages and the necessary considerations to plan and deliver group fitness classes for older adults of all fitness levels. Topics covered include: physiology and sociology of aging, leadership and motivation, common disorders, and risk management.
In-person courses are offered at approved agencies across Alberta. Course dates and times are scheduled according to the instructor's and facility's space availability. Virtual course dates are allocated around in person courses and scheduled by the Fitness Alberta team.
To register for this course you have to have completed the Fitness Alberta Foundations in physical activity and exercise (formerly Exercise theory) course.
