Position Title: Group Fitness Leader – Pilates Instructor
Location: North Campus (114 avenue & 87 street)
Pay rate: $54 - $65.00* per hour (*based on related education and experience)
Position Start date: January 6, 2025 (or sooner if available to substitute teach)
Position Closing date: open until suitable candidate found
Business Unit Information: Campus & Community Recreation is a unit within Campus Services
at the University of Alberta. Our primary focus is to provide meaningful, affordable recreational
and wellness related experiences to the students, support staff and academic staff within the
campus and surrounding community. The Group Fitness Program consists of approximately
50-70 classes per week on both North and South Campus’, including group resistance (portable
equipment), Spin, step, functional training, bootcamp, Zumba, Pilates and Yoga. All fitness
leaders operate as Independent Contractors.
Responsibilities:
We are looking for a certified Pilates group fitness instructor to deliver beginner to intermediate
Pilates classes on campus to our student, staff and public community. As part of the Group
Fitness program delivery team, you would be responsible for providing instruction to groups
from 10 - 25 participants per class. Our group exercise leaders are dedicated, educated
individuals who bring their enthusiasm and love of health and fitness to the participants in their
classes.
Specific duties include:
● Instruct and lead group exercise classes, within a structured schedule
● Classes available at various times of day
● Provide relevant, current fitness related information to class participants
● Support fellow leaders by substitute instructing when and where possible
● Role model a healthy lifestyle
Requirements and qualifications
● Applicants must hold a recognized Pilates Instructor Certification ( Ex. STOTT, Pilates
Method, Mat Technique or comparable)
● AFLCA Group Exercise certification would be an asset
● Instructors must hold applicable professional liability insurance
● Applicants must have current CPR or Standard/Intermediate First Aid
